FORT MORGAN - Authorities in Fort Morgan arrested an El Salvadorian man in the United States illegally on attempted murder and first degree assault charges.

Jose Quintanilla-Ramos, 27, is accused of shooting a male party with multiple rounds from a handgun outside a nightclub on the 200 block of Main Street at around 2 a.m. on July 28. The victim was transported to the St. Elizabeth Hospital and later transferred to St. Anthony’s for his substantial injuries.

Quintanilla-Ramos, who was denied entry into the club a couple hours prior to the shooting, evaded authorities and ran south from the location. Police officers were able to locate Quintanilla-Ramos in Fort Morgan and arrest him without incident at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The case remains under investigation. The 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Brush Police Department, Colorado Bureau of Investigations, and federal agencies all played a role in this case.
