CRETE, Neb. -- Doane women’s basketball has announced its basketball staff for the 2024-25 season, Wednesday morning.

Mallory McConkey will be promoted to assistant coach as of July 1. She will be the top assistant for Coach Ryan Baumgartner’s program.

McConkey came to Doane in August 2022 and has served as a graduate assistant for the past two years. She has been key to player development and has assisted the varsity squad and has overseen the junior varsity program during her time at Doane.

Prior to joining the Tigers, McConkey played collegiately at Northwest Missouri State University at a NCAA Division II level.

She fills the position held by Gene Steinmeyer, who will continue to serve as an assistant coach while also running his travel agency business, Legendary Travel.

Makenna Bray will also join the Tiger coaching staff this fall. She served as a student manager for the nationally ranked Creighton University Bluejays program the last few years.

Bray will assist with the varsity program and oversee the junior varsity program, essentially taking the previous position of McConkey.
