EUGENE, Ore. - The highly decorated career of a southern Nebraska Panhandle high jumper continued to be even more golden last weekend.

Karsyn Leeling, of Sidney, won the girls high jump at the Nike Outdoor High School Nationals at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., clearing 6'0".

Leeling, who became the first girl to jump over 6'0" in Nebraska high school history during the John Ganser Invite in Sidney last March, claimed her second straight gold medal sweep of the high jump, triple jump and long jump last month at the Class B State Track and Field Championships in Omaha.

She was also a member of the Lady Raiders' runner-up 4x100 meter relay team and played for the Sidney girls basketball team who finished runner-up in Class C1 in March.

Leeling, who holds the all-class state high jump record at 6'1", will compete for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln track and field team next year. She joined Sidney radio station, 987 The Big Boy, earlier this year to talk about her high jump career and being the first girl ever to jump over 6'0" in the state of Nebraska.
