Two deputies hurt after partygoers flee AirBnB in Nance County

Deputies found over 100 people and 20 vehicles on the rental property late Friday night.

NANCE COUNTY -- Two deputies suffered minor injuries after partygoers tried to flee a party in southwest Nance County Friday night.

According to Nance County Sheriff's Office at around 10:45 P.M., they received a report of a large party taking place at an AirBnB in rural southwest Nance County.

The caller reported loud music and several minors consuming alcohol.

After they arrived, over 100 people and over 20 vehicles were on the property.

When people saw the deputies, many fled to their vehicles after deputies tried to contact them. 

Eight vehicles crashed into a ditch near the property and became stuck. Two deputies suffered minor injuries after being struck by vehicles attempting to flee.

Several partygoers were identified as being underage. It was discovered the property was rented out by an 18 year old on the AirBnB app.

Deputies estimated damage to the inside of the property including graffiti on the walls, damaged furniture, and floors to be $3,000. Vehicles also damaged several headstones in a nearby cemetery.

Over 30 citations were handed out for Minors in Possession of Alcohol (MIPS) and hundreds of alcoholic beverages were recovered on the property. Other charges are pending and under investigation and recovery efforts resumed on Saturday.

Merrick County Sheriff's Office, Howard County Sheriff's Office, and Smith & Sons Repair LLC also assisted the call.
