SIDNEY -- Ken Steffens, representing Scow & Scow Enterprises #4 LLC, met with the Sidney City Council recently regarding a new liquor license.

Scow & Scow are the owners of Winners, previously located north of Loves Truck Stop.

"We were located out at the old Country Inn & Suites. Pretty good little business. We ran there for three years. We've had a lot of comments from the public. They enjoyed coming out, play pool, play some games, enjoy the amenities that we had out there. Unfortunately, with the landlord it just didn't work out any more, and we needed to seek a better place," Steffens said.

He said Scow & Scow searched Sidney for a better place, settling on the former "China 1 Buffet" located near Bomgaars and the former Radio Shack.

"It's an old building that needed lots of work. We're still working real hard to get that done and open. We felt it was good to revitalize that and get some more traffic through there. Part of our business includes a liquor license. We were too late to transfer. We didn't get our lease signed in time with the old landlord so we couldn't transfer anything over," he said.

Steffens said they hope to open in two weeks. However, they are encountering delays.

He said the new location will have fewer skill games, but more vape products and more room for pool tables. He said two pool leagues have committed to playing there. Steffens said they plan to charge by the half-hour and hour instead of by the game.

The city council approved the application 5-0.
