SCHUYLER, Neb. – An eastern Nebraska pedestrian is expected to live after colliding with a semi trailer Wednesday afternoon.

According to Schuyler Police Chief Robert Farber, an emergency call came in at approximately 12:50 p.m. with a report of the accident near Casey’s at 16th and Colfax in Schuyler.

Farber said the 77-year-old woman was attempting to cross Cofax mid-block between 16th and 17th Streets. According to Farber, a northbound semi put on its horn to alert the pedestrian, who then hit the rear trailer.

The woman was treated by Schuyler fire and rescue before being taken to CHI Health Schuyler. Farber said she remains in the hospital, though her injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

The semi driver was not injured.

Farber said alcohol was not believed to be a factor, and no citations were issued.

The investigation remains ongoing.
