OMAHA - Lincoln's Michael Peterson advanced for the second-straight year through qualifying for the 68th U.S. Senior Amateur Championship, posting the low round of the day at Shadow Ridge Country Club in Omaha on Monday.

The 18-hole Qualifier was delayed two-and-a-half hours on Monday morning due to storms in the area, but Peterson was able to stay warm after the delay. He posted a round of 72 (E) to take the lone-qualifying spot by one stroke. After qualifying for the first time last year, Peterson is headed to his second U.S. Senior Amateur.

Peterson put together a solid round, making four birdies and four bogeys on his way to earning the spot. He was the only player in red figures after birdies on Nos. 12 and 15, but a bogey on No. 16 dropped him back to even-par, where he finished.

Fremont's John Sajevic is the first alternate after a round o 73 (+1), while Omaha's William Gist is the second alternate after shooting 74 (+2).

Peterson will play next at the 68th U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at Martis Camp Club in Truckee, California, August 26-31.
