COLUMBUS, Neb. -- The Central Community College women’s basketball team defeated the Mount Marty University JV, 80-48, on Monday night at the Raider Fieldhouse.

The CCC offense set the tone early by outscoring Mount Marty in the opening quarter, 24-12. The Raiders went on to lead 40-27 at halftime. The CCC defense closed the contest by holding the Lancers to eight points in the fourth quarter. The Raiders totaled 22 team assists and scored 30 points in the paint. CCC’s reserves bested the Mount Marty reserves, 24-4.

“I was proud of the effort,” said CCC head coach Kasi Stoltz. “We came out from start and made some shots in transition. After halftime, we really got up and down the court with some easy finishes and then made 12 three-pointers as a team, which always helps.”

The win puts the Raiders at 13-12 for the season, the first time CCC has been above .500 since December.

Up next, CCC will remain at the Raider Fieldhouse for a Friday night meeting with North Platte Community College. The Raiders defeated the Knights in North Platte, 60-50, on Feb. 3. Friday’s game begins at 5:30 p.m. and it will be Military Appreciation Night at the Raider Fieldhouse.
