OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton women's soccer's school record eight-match unbeaten streak came to an end on Thursday.

The Bluejays fell to Connecticut in the Big East Conference opener, 2-1.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, it was Connecticut that scratched the scoreboard first in the 51st minute. A shot deflected off the foot of a Bluejay player to Jessica Mazo, who gathered the ball and fired a shot into the back of the net, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

Creighton pulled even in the 83rd minute as Peighton Steffen lofted a shot into the back of the net.

Jada Konte intercepted a pass from the Bluejay goalkeeper Keelan Terrell before finding Cara Jordan for a goal, giving the Huskies a late 2-1 win.

The Bluejays return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 25 as Creighton travels to #23 Georgetown to battle the Hoyas at 12 p.m.
