'It's just fun': Car wash, animal shelter team up to raise funds
COLUMBUS, Neb. -- A car wash and an animal shelter are teaming up for a good cause this weekend in Platte County.
Legacy Car Wash and the Paws and Claws Animal Shelter in Columbus are putting on a special event called "Wash Your Car, Wash Your Dog" this Sunday.
Both organizations held the same event several months ago and decided to bring it back before the fun in the summer sun ends.
Dog owners will be able to bring their furry friends to the car wash for a bath, free of charge.
A portion of all proceeds from car washes this weekend will be donated to the Paws and Claws Animal Shelter.
Aaron Luneke, the owner of Legacy Car Wash, said he loves to have his business help out with the community.
"It's just fun. You get a car wash and who doesn't feel better after leaving with a clean car, especially when they don't have to break a sweat and Fido gets to have a quick bath as well," Luneke said. "We love our community partners and we know a good community has strong neighbors who are kind and friendly to each other."
Luneke added that he would like to partner with other Columbus businesses to put on future events.
Live music and popsicles will also be provided.
If attendees bring a donation for the shelter, they will receive a free 'platinum' car wash.
The donation list can be found on the Paws and Claws Adoption Center's Facebook page.
The event will run from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
