COLUMBUS, Neb. -- Columbus Community Hospital recently presented Amanda DeWispelare with the Sheaf of Wheat Award for hospital employees who make lasting impressions on patients or their families.

DeWispelare is a scheduler and unit secretary in the hospital’s preadmission department. Jodi Kosiba, RN, a co-worker, nominated her for the award.

In her nomination letter, Kosiba praised DeWispelare for her “behind-the-scenes” work to help various departments provide a smooth and organized surgical process for patients. She noted DeWispelare’s detailed organization skills and previous work experiences as assets she uses to solve problems daily.

“Amanda is a wonderful co-worker in the office,” Kosiba said. “If you don’t know the answer to a question, she likely knows or will find the answer for you. During staffing shortages, Amanda also volunteered to help in the kitchen to help fill the vacant shifts. She is kind and patient and always has a positive attitude.”

Hospital representatives presented DeWispelare with a certificate of recognition and a Sheaf of Wheat plaque on Friday, July 1.
