COLUMBUS, Neb. — Columbus United Federal Credit Union is getting a new name, changing to OneUnited Federal Credit Union on Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Credit union officials said the name change was to better reflect the numerous northeast Nebraska communities the business serves. The organization will remain based in Columbus.

“OneUnited remains locally owned by our community,” said OneUnited President and CEO Brian Christensen. “Our new name represents a unified and inclusive commitment to serve the many communities of Northeast Nebraska.”

The organization continues to build on a 73-year legacy. The tradition of “United” grew from its original name, United Credit Union, then to Columbus United FCU, and now to OneUnited FCU.

OneUnited is federally insured by NCUA and is an Equal Housing Lender and serves Antelope, Boone, Butler, Colfax, Cuming, Dodge, Hamilton, Madison, Merrick, Nance, Pierce, Platte, Polk, Saunders, Seward, Stanton, Washington, Wayne and York Counties.

Company officials said the credit union was not sold and did not merge with another institution. Phone numbers, staff emails, web addresses and hours will remain unchanged.
