LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Former SMU and Texas A&M coach Jeanne Sutherland has been named to lead the Nebraska women’s golf program.

Sutherland was associate head coach in 2021-22 and takes over the top job from Lisa Johnson, who led the program three seasons. Johnson left after her husband, John Johnson, was hired as Portland State’s athletic director.

Sutherland was at SMU from 2011-21 and at Texas A&M from 1992-2007. Sutherland led a combined 18 teams from those schools to NCAA regionals, with four advancing to the championship rounds.

She was head pro at Vail Golf Club in Colorado from 2007-11.
