COLUMBUS, Neb. -- The Platte County Sheriff's office responded to an ATV accident Saturday evening. 

Authorities said that around 11:30 p.m. on April 2, deputies with the Platte County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a location just east of Webster St. on Gerrard Ave., in Monroe for an ATV accident with injuries. 

Officials said the investigation indicated that a 2012 Kawasaki ATV, operated by a 19-year-old female of Monroe, had been traveling eastbound on Gerrard Ave. when she lost control of the ATV and collided into the back of a parked vehicle east of Webster St. 

Authorities say that the woman was transported to the Columbus Community Hospital by Monroe Rescue where she was later flown by medical helicopter to Bryan West Hospital in Lincoln. 

Officials said that the damage to the parked vehicle, a 2006 Kia Rio, was estimated at $1,000, and damage to the ATV was estimated at $300. 

Authorities said that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident. 

The accident remains under investigation by the Platte County Sheriff's Office.
