COLUMBUS, Neb. -- One person is in custody after a reported burglary in rural Columbus on Monday afternoon.

Deputies with the Platte County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the residence shortly before 1:00 p.m. for reports of a burglary in progress.

Upon arrival, deputies entered the property and approached the residence. As they approached the residence a man exited the residence with his hands up. The subject, identified as Bradley Kielian, 50 from Silver Creek, was detained.

Deputies requested and were assisted by the Columbus Police Department’s K-9 unit, who conducted a thorough search of the residence and property. No further assailants were located.
