IOWA -- Winter weather is hitting the Midwest, and it appears Nebraska is safe...for now.

Just to the east of the Cornhusker State, Iowa is getting pelted by snow, something Nebraskans have seen surprisingly little of this season.

The white stuff has also been falling in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

Nebraska could potentially see winter weather by the weekend, with overnight temperatures falling below zero across most of the state and a chance for snow in the southern half.
