SCHUYLER, Neb.-- On Sunday night, authorities in Colfax County responded to a call for an assault on an officer. 
 
Sgt. Cheyne Terrell responded to a report of a distraught woman when a man reportedly hit Terrell in the face, landing the officer on the ground. 
 
The suspect continued the fight until backup arrived, according to Police Chief Robert Farber.
 
After 30 minutes and responses from multiple authorities, the suspect was detained.
 
Responding authorities secured and transported the suspect to the Platte County Detention Center where he was lodged for felony assault on an officer, among other charges.
 
Terrell was transported to a local hospital to be checked out for a possible concussion, facial injuries, knee and ankle injuries.
 
He was later released and returned to duty.
