ALBION, Neb. -- The Boone County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident from last week in which a tractor was struck by a train near St. Edward.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 2, a westbound Massey Ferguson tractor driven by Francis Whidden, of St. Edward, and a southbound train collided three miles south of St. Edward. Whidden was driving on 360th Street when the collision occurred.

Whidden was transported to the Boone County Hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Lincoln due to his injuries.

The tractor was a total loss, while there was moderate damage to the train.

The crash remains under investigation.
