New sports complex, more Schuyler projects
SCHUYLER -- Eastern Nebraska may be able to play around more soon: Schuyler's community organizer Luis Lucar told NCN he and a group of nonprofit leaders are working to create a community sports complex.
"There was a need," he said. "A place for not only the youth and children but adults to practice sports."
Lucar said the group is currently looking at locations and speaking with developers. The next step will be to start budgeting and fundraising. He estimates the project should take a couple of years.
It comes as the city is also fundraising to install an electronic welcome sign to list events.
Lucar has multiple community development projects in the works. As you can learn from our Telemundo affiliates, he's also trying to form a group to promote trust between Hispanic women and law enforcement.
