COLUMBUS, NE - Park your chair and enjoy all that Frankfort Square has to offer on Thursday nights in Columbus.

Lawn Chairs on the Square, a summer tradition that’s been going on for 50 years, gives community members an opportunity to enjoy to live music in the park.

Columbus native and coordinator of Columbus Downtown Business Association, Barbra Siedlik, grew up coming to this event with her family, and is working to ensure that it continues

“I grew up in Columbus…graduated from the high school and have my business here… I can remember coming with my Mom who brought nieces and nephews," she says.

"I have a lot of people that come and they’ll stop me on the street and say, 'I’m so glad you guys continue with lawn chairs.’ You know, Columbus is still small enough where you see people on the street or recognize them on the stage…that’s the nice thing about it."

Aside from the music, they offer a variety of food, desserts, and drinks from the funnel cake trailer found on the square.

Proceeds from the trailer go toward holiday decorations and the signs and banners that are hung around the downtown Columbus area.

Siedlik hopes for residents to enjoy the weather and live music for the next few Thursdays and with Columbus days coming up in the next few weeks, she is anticipating a good turnout

“I just encourage people to come on down to lawn chairs, it’s so much fun and we have Columbus days starting… that’s another fantastic event to come down to the community and see people."
