BRIDGEPORT, Neb. — Roadwork on U.S. Highway 26 and U.S. Highway 385 in Bridgeport is set to begin March 30, bringing traffic changes that will impact travel through the area for several months.

The project will focus on phased repairs to both the river bridge and the Union Pacific Railroad viaduct bridge, with traffic reduced to one lane across the structures. Temporary traffic signals will be used to guide vehicles through the work zone.

A 12-foot width restriction will be in place, and drivers should expect delays as traffic is routed through alternating lane closures.

Work will continue through late 2026, with additional improvements planned later this summer, including pavement repairs, upgraded sidewalks and ramps, and a new pedestrian crosswalk with flashing beacons.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution, reduce speed and stay alert while traveling through the construction zone.
