NORFOLK, Neb.— Fans across northeast Nebraska weren’t just watching the Huskers, they turned it into an event.

It may have been a workday, but in Norfolk, a lot of people had other plans. Bars and restaurants had fans gathered for Nebraska’s historic NCAA Tournament game.

The game was happening down in Oklahoma, but here in town, watch parties took over, with fans watching from tip-off to the final basket.

Every play brought big reactions. Cheers, high-fives, and a whole lot of Husker pride.

“I mean, it's been a long time coming. It's really awesome to see the Huskers do as great as they are this year. My whole childhood, growing up, even now, I really enjoy and look forward to Husker days,” Tony H Huston said

But being there wasn’t just about the game itself.

“It's awesome. Like, getting to be out with my best friends here from work, get us share of this wonderful experience that hopefully we can get this monkey off our back and get our first tournament win,” Huston said.

And the Huskers did just that, beating out the number 13 seed Troy Trojans 76-47 in their first NCAA win.

Nebraska moves on to the next round on Saturday against Vanderbilt, and if today was any indication, expect more parties to come.
