MURRAY – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports a collision between a pickup truck and a side-dump semi-trailer that injured a Nebraska City man and a passenger in his pickup.

A sheriff’s office press release says 21-year-old Marcus Rightsell was following a northbound side-dump truck and semi-trailer on 24th Avenue near Splitt Drive at Murray.

A southbound side-dump semi-trailer, driven by Fredrick Lowry Jr., 65, of Omaha,  passed the northbound trailer but collided with Rightsell’s pickup. Rightsell was trapped inside the vehicle and required extrication.

He was transported by LifeNet to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition. Murray rescue took a passenger in the pickup to Nebraska Medicine in Bellevue for minor injuries.

Lowry declined medical transport.
