Earthquake shakes parts of southeast Nebraska, Sunday afternoon

If you were in or around southeast Nebraska Sunday afternoon and you felt your surroundings shake, you're not alone.

COWLES, Neb. - If you were in or around southeast or south central Nebraska Sunday afternoon and you felt your surroundings shake, you're not alone.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a 4.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Cowles, NE. in Webster County... about 10 miles northeast of Red Cloud.

The USGS says the quake had a depth of two miles and traveled a minimum distance of 86 miles.

Shaking was reported as far east as Lincoln.
