DUNBAR – Dunbar Fire and Rescue was dispatched at 12:40 p.m. today after a Highway 2 collision involving a Chevrolet Equinox and a semi-trailer near the Burr Farms driveway west of Dunbar.

Firefighters set up a landing zone on the westbound lanes of the highway for a medical helicopter.

An Otoe County Sheriff's Office press release says a 70-year-old Syracuse woman was flown from the scene in serious condition. The driver of the truck, a 23-year-old Syracuse man, was uninjured.

The sheriff says a preliminary investigation indicates a westbound truck and semi-trailer had activated its turn signal and slowed to turn north into Burr Farms Machinery, when was struck from behind by a SUV. A responding deputy extinguished a small fire in the passenger compartment of the SUV.
