INDIANAPOLIS — Sidney native Karsyn Leeling added her name to the Nebraska record books Saturday, winning the women’s high jump at the Heartland Invitational with a mark of 1.86 meters (6 feet, 1 1/4 inches).
Leeling, a sophomore at Nebraska and a Sidney High School graduate, cleared 1.86 to claim the event title and move into sixth place all-time in program history in the indoor high jump.
Teammate Ela Velepec finished second at 1.83 meters (6-0). Gabriella Newman of Michigan and Malina Miller of Ball State tied for third at 1.74 meters (5-8 1/2). Nebraska freshman EJ Brown also cleared 1.74 to place fifth.
