Two arrested following traffic stop in Sterling

Two people were arrested after a Sterling traffic stop when a K9 alerted to narcotics. Charges include burglary tools and restraining order violations.

STERLING, Colo. — Two people were arrested following a traffic stop in Sterling after a K9 unit alerted to the presence of narcotics, according to the Sterling Police Department.

Police said officers conducted the stop during proactive patrol efforts. During the stop, a K9 performed a free-air sniff around the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics.

The driver was taken into custody on charges related to possession of burglary tools.

A passenger was also arrested for violating a restraining order after officers reported finding marijuana, alcohol and methamphetamine residue.

No names were released.
