Cheyenne County tax sale set for March 2

Cheyenne County will hold its annual tax sale March 2. A $150 fee applies per parcel if a tax sale certificate is issued, per state statute.

SIDNEY, Neb. — The Cheyenne County Treasurer’s Office will conduct a tax sale on Monday, March 2, 2026, according to Treasurer Sheila Von Seggern.

Under Nebraska statute 77-1818, if a tax sale certificate is issued on a property for delinquent taxes, an administrative fee of $150 will be assessed for each parcel on which a certificate is issued.

The fee is paid by the property owner at the time the certificate is redeemed. Von Seggern said the administrative fee is paid to the investor who purchased the certificate once it has been redeemed. Cheyenne County does not retain any portion of the administrative fee.

Property owners with delinquent taxes are encouraged to review their status prior to the sale. A current list of delinquent properties is available on the Cheyenne County website at https://cheyennecounty.nebraska.gov/treasurer.
