NSAA Girls Class C and D Basketball Subdistrict Brackets set for panhandle teams

Leyton, Ogallala hosting subdistrict tournaments.

SIDNEY, Neb. — The road to the Nebraska School Activities Association state girls basketball tournament begins next week as subdistrict brackets were released Thursday, setting postseason matchups for teams across the Nebraska Panhandle in Classes C1, C2, D1 and D2.

In Class C1 Subdistrict C1-10 at Prairie View School, Bridgeport (20-3) earned the No. 3 seed and will face No. 6 Cozad (3-17) at 6 p.m. MT on Feb. 16. Chadron (15-8), the No. 4 seed, meets No. 5 Chase County (8-14) at 4 p.m. MT. Top-seeded Ogallala (18-3) and No. 2 Gothenburg (18-3) await in the Feb. 17 semifinals, with the championship set for 6 p.m. MT on Feb. 19.

Bridgeport fans will be able to follow the Bulldogs through the subdistrict tournament on 987 The Big Boy (98.7 FM, thebigboy987.com, the free News Channel Nebraska app and on your smart speaker).

Class C2 Subdistrict C2-10 opens Feb. 16 at Hemingford. Mitchell (8-14) takes on Gordon-Rushville (6-15), while Kimball (11-10) faces Hemingford (6-14). Top seed Valentine (14-7) and No. 2 Perkins County (13-7) advance directly to the semifinals Feb. 17. The subdistrict final is scheduled for Feb. 19.

In Class D1 Subdistrict D1-12 at Morrill Elementary Gym, Bayard (8-11) is the No. 3 seed and will meet No. 2 Wauneta-Palisade (12-9) on Feb. 17. Top-seeded Morrill (15-8) faces No. 4 Sutherland (6-14). The championship game is set for Feb. 19.

Class D2 Subdistrict D2-10 at Paxton features No. 4 Arthur County (3-12) against No. 5 Creek Valley (0-16) on Feb. 16. Garden County (8-13), the No. 3 seed, plays No. 2 South Platte (10-10) on Feb. 17. No. 1 Paxton (14-6) awaits in the semifinals. The final is scheduled for 6 p.m. MT on Feb. 19.

In Class D2 Subdistrict D2-11 at Leyton High School, top-seeded Leyton (5-13) will face No. 4 Minatare (3-12), while Banner County (6-12) meets Potter-Dix (5-16) on Feb. 17. The championship game will be played Feb. 19.

Subdistrict champions will advance to district finals on Saturday, Feb. 21.
