Dave Griek joins NCN as the Evening News Anchor, bringing over 15 years of experience covering Nebraska. After spending more than a decade reporting on sports across the state, Dave transitioned to news in November 2021. He even had a brief stint in the weather center during the summer of 2021, further deepening his connection to the happenings and history of the Cornhusker State.

In addition to his award-winning journalism, Dave is deeply invested in the Kearney community and beyond. In 2014, he co-founded the Central Nebraska LOSS (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) Team. This initiative, inspired by his personal experience of losing his father to suicide at the age of 10, provides trained clinicians and survivors to support families coping with the loss of a loved one to suicide.

Dave also dedicates his time to officiating football and basketball games, a role he has held for over a decade. From elementary to high school, he helps ensure that the next generation of athletes can enjoy the game.  Over the years, Dave has been honored to serve as an emcee and host for numerous community events and galas, a role he approaches with humility and gratitude.

Despite his many professional accomplishments, Dave's most cherished roles are as a husband and father. His wife, Machaela, is a Kearney native, and together they are raising two children—a son and daughter, six years apart.

Dave is humbled and honored to earn the trust of Nebraskans, bringing their stories into their homes and hearts. He is deeply grateful for the unwavering support of the community and strives every day to be worthy of that belief.

Thank you for welcoming him as part of your lives, and welcoming him to News Channel Nebraska!
