BACKGROUND & CURRENT ROLE
Casey Wonnenberg is a three time Emmy-award-winning journalist who is honored to cover the Sandhills of Nebraska. Before moving with her family to the Valentine area, Casey worked at TV stations in North and South Dakota, covering everything from presidential visits to severe weather (fun fact: Casey had a blizzard named after her in North Dakota in 2010) and local government. EDUCATION
Casey graduated Summa cum laude from South Dakota State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She was honored for having the top GPA in her college department. The Gregory, South Dakota native also maintained a 4.0 GPA in high school.

 

FAMILY & FUN
Casey lives near Valentine, Nebraska with her husband, David, and two daughters. In her spare time Casey enjoys going on walks with her three English Springer Spaniels, attending community events and watching her daughters compete in dance and school events.

FAST FACTS
Favorite Musician: Garth Brooks, who Casey got to interview in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She says her interview with Brooks made her like the artist even more.
Favorite Journalism Experience: Despite covering several presidential visits and celebrities, Casey says her favorite reporting experience was reporting on an Honor Flight. Casey skipped her own bachelorette party to fly with a group of WWII veterans to the nation's capital. Casey says it was totally worth it because she was humbled and gained a new perspective on life during the trip.
Favorite Song: Amazing Grace
Favorite Movie: Hmmm…Casey is not sure she has one…Any good ideas of movies to watch?
