Mitchell, Sedgwick County/Fleming lead field at Mitchell wrestling invite

MITCHELL, Neb. — Mitchell claimed the boys team title and Sedgwick County/Fleming swept the girls standings Friday at the Mitchell girls and boys wrestling invitational.
Mitchell edged Sedgwick County/Fleming 205.5-205.0 to win the boys crown, with Bridgeport finishing third at 156 points. Scottsbluff and Yuma tied for fourth with 107 points, while Sidney placed seventh with 83.5.
Mitchell picked up individual wins from Kallen Golden at 106 pounds, Drey Gardner at 126 and Gavin Cheek at 144, while Brody Fuss added a third-place finish at 113. Sedgwick County/Fleming secured multiple podium finishes, including titles from Cooper Edson at 120, Owen Harris at 157 and Levi Reichman at 175.
Sidney was led by Cayson Boltjes, who won the 215-pound title with a first-period fall, and Kaine Hill, who placed third at 126. Matthew Corne added a third-place finish at 175.
On the girls side, Sedgwick County/Fleming topped the team standings with 163.5 points, followed by Scottsbluff at 128 and Gering at 123. Sidney finished 11th with 23 points.
Chadron’s Meri Werner won at 100 pounds, while Elizabeth Menke of Bridgeport claimed the 115-pound title. Sidney earned podium finishes from Makena Perez, who placed third at 140, and Aspyne Houser, who finished fourth at 120.
