College hoops round up: Omaha beats South Dakota State 80-71
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Paul Djobet had 16 points and 10 rebounds as Omaha beat South Dakota State 80-71 on Wednesday night.
Tony Osburn shot 5 for 14, including 3 for 10 from beyond the arc to add 15 points for the Mavericks (11-12, 4-4 Summit League). Grant Stubblefield had 13 points and shot 3 of 8 from the field and 7 of 8 from the free-throw line.
Damon Wilkinson led the way for the Jackrabbits (10-12, 3-4) with 24 points. Kalen Garry added 22 points and four assists for South Dakota State. Bubz Alvarez finished with 10 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Dixon-Waters scores 16 as San Diego State defeats Colorado State 73-50
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Reese Dixon-Waters' 16 points helped San Diego State defeat Colorado State 73-50 on Wednesday night.
Dixon-Waters went 7 of 9 from the field for the Aztecs (15-5, 9-1 Mountain West Conference). Pharaoh Compton scored 15 points and added five rebounds. Miles Byrd shot 3 of 8 from the field, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 3 for 4 from the free-throw line to finish with 10 points, while adding three steals.
Jevin Muniz finished with nine points and five assists for the Rams (12-9, 3-7). Josh Pascarelli added eight points for Colorado State. Jase Butler finished with seven points.
San Diego State took the lead with 6:54 remaining in the first half and did not trail again. Dixon-Waters led the Aztecs with nine points in the first half to help put them up 33-27 at the break. San Diego State pulled away with a 9-0 run in the second half to extend an eight-point lead to 17 points. The Aztecs outscored Colorado State by 17 points in the final half, as Compton led the way with a team-high nine second-half points.
King scores 20 as Utah State takes down Wyoming 94-62
LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Kolby King's 20 points off of the bench led Utah State to a 94-62 victory against Wyoming on Wednesday night.
King also had seven rebounds for the Aggies (17-3, 8-2 Mountain West Conference). Garry Clark scored 13 points and added five rebounds. Michael Collins Jr. finished with 12 points.
The Cowboys (12-9, 3-7) were led by Leland Walker, who recorded 24 points. Nasir Meyer added 12 points for Wyoming. Khaden Bennett finished with nine points and four assists.
King scored 14 points in the first half to help put the Aggies up 50-28 at the break. Utah State pulled away with an 8-0 run to extend a 24-point lead to 32 points.
