Two County officials confirm departure from positions as 2026 election filing is underway

KIMBALL – Two long-time Kimball County officials have announced they will not be filing for re-election this year – County Clerk Cathy Sibal and District Court Clerk Deb Diemoz.
Sibal is retiring after 31 years as County Clerk.
“It’s been an amazing experience serving the people of Kimball County and providing good services from the county Clerk’s office and staff,” Sibal said. “I really don’t have a lot of complaints other than the years just rolled by too fast ... I feel it’s time for me to enjoy some retirement time.”
Josi Morgan has filed for the County Clerk position.
Diemoz has served as Kimball County District Court Clerk for almost 36 years and has decided to take an early retirement due to sickness in her family.
“I feel like my job has been very challenging but very blessful,” Diemoz said. “I love the rollercoaster of having to keep up with the legislative. I have been before the legislature before to argue some of the bills, and it has been a true honor to work with Kimball County and to serve the community as I have.”
Jamie Bright has filed for the District Court Clerk position.
Two County Commissioner seats are up for re-election. Elyse Lukassen has filed for re-election, and Rich Flores has not filed yet. Nonincumbent Carl Stander has filed as well.
Andy Taylor has filed for the County Attorney position, which was previously held by Dave Wilson, who retired in July 2024.
Incumbents have until February 17 to file for re-election, and nonincumbents have until March 2.
