HOLDREGE, Neb. — Central Community College has officially relocated its Holdrege Center to downtown Holdrege, moving into the former Great Western Bank building at 424 West Avenue.

The $1.9 million project nearly doubles the center’s space and adds new classrooms, labs, offices and testing areas for students and community programs.

The center will offer nursing assistant training, high school classes, GED courses, English as a Second Language programs, and community education opportunities, including workshops and professional development classes.

There’s also space for future partner organizations to collaborate on programming.

“Being back in downtown Holdrege allows us to be part of a vibrant community hub,” said regional director and international studies coordinator Diana Watson. “We look forward to expanding our programming, services, and accessibility for students."

CCC has had a presence in Holdrege since 1995, previously located downtown before moving to the Phelps County Agricultural Center in 1998.

The relocation comes after community meetings and an open house that demonstrated strong local support for the move.

CCC officials say the new location provides improved accessibility for students, closer connections to downtown amenities and opportunities for additional community partnerships.
