American announces service to Dallas, Chicago, Phoenix from Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb.— Next holiday season, traveling to and from Nebraska could be much simpler.
The Lincoln Airport announced Thursday morning that American Airlines will be bringing nonstop flights to and from Dallas/Fort Worth and Chicago beginning next June.
American is also adding seasonal service to Phoenix next winter.
The carrier will be sending two flights a day to DFW and one daily flight to O’Hare.
Airport officials say the announcement is the culmination of a months-long Business Travel Survey of local businesses, looking into what destinations were the most sought after locally.
Results showed that approximately 40 percent of respondents regularly traveled to DFW. Studies conducted by the airport’s air service development consultant identified Phoenix as Lincoln’s top overall travel market.
Director of Air Service Development and Strategic Marketing Rachel Barth notes how this will give travelers what they’ve been asking for.
“Lincoln travelers have been clear about what they want — more options, better pricing, and larger aircraft,” said Barth. “American’s new service delivers all three while positioning LNK for long-term, sustainable growth. With American Airlines joining our air service portfolio, passengers traveling from Lincoln will now have access to 271 destinations worldwide.”
American will operate the new routes using CRJ-700 and CRJ-900, offering First Class, Main Cabin Extra and Main Cabin seating. Additional details on schedules will be announced by American Airlines or the Lincoln Airport website.
