Prep wrestling round-up: Mitchell wins Gordon-Rushville invite behind 10 champions
GORDON, Neb. - Mitchell captured the team title at the 2025 Gordon-Rushville Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, finishing with 195.5 points to top a 16-team field.
Chadron placed second with 168.5 points, followed by Bridgeport and West Holt, which tied for third at 152. Hemingford rounded out the top five with 112 points.
The Tigers crowned champions in multiple weight classes and placed wrestlers throughout the bracket. Kallen Golden finished second at 106 pounds, while Brody Fuss won the 113-pound title with a decision over Chadron’s Colin McCoy. Yovani Jimenez claimed the 120-pound championship with a technical fall, and Drey Gardner added a title at 126 pounds.
Mitchell continued its strong showing with Tate Debus winning at 138 pounds and Gavin Cheek securing the 144-pound championship. Isidro Gonzales and Josh Hazzard also contributed key placement points, helping Mitchell pull away in the team race.
Chadron earned individual titles from Layne Davidson at 165 pounds, Braden Wright at 175 pounds, Bricen Wright at 190 pounds and Fletcher Stewart at 285 pounds. Bridgeport saw James Jeffords win the 150-pound title, while Bayard’s Aiden Schultz captured first at 215 pounds.
Hemingford’s Ryan Ragsdale opened the tournament by winning the 106-pound title, and Andrew Miller added a third-place finish at 126 pounds. Garden County’s Jase Roberson placed second at 165 pounds, while Bayard’s Henry Dueker finished third at 106 pounds.
Windsor claims team title at Charlie Lake Invitational in Cheyenne
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Windsor captured the team championship at the Charlie Lake Invitational on Saturday, finishing with 182 points to top a 27-team field at the Event Center at Archer.
Cheyenne East placed second with 166 points, followed by Pinedale in third with 104.5. Thompson Valley finished fourth at 103 points, while Poudre rounded out the top five with 90.5.
Owen Schaefer won the 126-pound title for Windsor, Robert Kendall claimed first at 175 pounds, Evan Perez captured the championship at 215 pounds, and Windsor added a runner-up finish from Leo Ramirez at 144 pounds.
Cheyenne East was led by Kozad Porter’s championship at 138 pounds and several podium finishes throughout the middle weights. Fred Padilla placed third at 106 pounds, Izaius McDonald finished second at 120, and Sammy Sanchez was the runner-up at 126.
Thompson Valley earned individual titles from Anthony Castillo at 106 pounds, Jackson Eversman at 157 and Wyatt Malara at 165. Pinedale saw Wylee Willson win the 132-pound title and Cale Dauwen take first at 190 pounds.
Torrington picked up a championship from Ty Albaugh at 150 pounds to finish sixth in the team standings. Sidney’s Cayson Boltjes claimed the 285-pound title with a major decision in the finals.
