OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — David Castillo scored 19 points, Abdi Bashir Jr. added 18 and Kansas State built an early double-digit lead in the second half and held off Creighton for an 83-76 victory on Saturday.

Castillo was 7-of-11 shooting and Bashir hit 6 of 12 from 3-point range. Khamari McGriff added 12 points and P.J. Haggerty scored 10 for Kansas State (7-4).

The Wildcats shot 59% (10 of 36) and hit 11 of 17 3-point shots in the first half, but after the break were just 28% (10 of 36) overall and missed 10 of 11 shots from distance.

K-State led by as many as 20 points early in the second half. About midway through the second, Creighton began a 10-1 surge to pull to 73-70 with 2:41 to play. Castillo answered with a layup and McGriff added a dunk to help the Wildcats pull away.

Josh Dix scored and Isaac Traudt scored 18 points apiece to lead Creighton (5-5). Austin Swartz chipped in with 12 points.

K-State closed the first half on a 23-8 run for a 51-33 halftime lead. Bashir scored 15 points on five 3-pointers to pace the Wildcats

It was the 10th meeting for K-State in Omaha but the first since an 88-78 win on Dec. 5, 1987. The teams last met in the 2018 NCAA Tournament when the Wildcats earned a 69-59 win in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Hargress scores 15 of 23 from 3-point range to send Colorado hurtling past UTSA 88-64

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Barrington Hargress scored 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range, and Colorado beat back UTSA after halftime for an 88-64 win on Saturday.

Sebastian Rancik scored 15 points and Bangot Dak 10 for Colorado (9-1), which has played seven games at home.

Jamir Simpson scored 20 points, reserve Brent Moss scored 11 points and fellow backup Daniel Akitoby 10 for the Roadrunners (4-6).

Colorado led 35-32 at the break and nearly equaled its first-half scoring total less than 10 minutes into the second half. A Dak dunk with 10:06 left to play put Colorado ahead 69-45.

The Buffaloes scored 53 points after halftime, the second most since a 58-point second-half outburst in a 97-88 win over Providence on Nov. 14.

Colorado is 5-0 against UTSA. It was the first game between the programs in 30 years. Colorado beat UTSA 92-77 at the CU Events Center on Dec. 22, 1995.

Cal State Fullerton makes 16 3s, defeats Denver 105-86

DENVER (AP) — Joshua Ward scored 20 points as Cal State Fullerton made 16 3-pointers and beat Denver 105-86 on Saturday.

Ward made four 3-pointers and added six rebounds, six assists, and three steals for the Titans (5-7). Bryce Cofield added 19 points while going 6 of 13 and 7 of 10 from the free-throw line while they also had five assists. Christian WIlliams shot 6 for 11 (4 for 7 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line to finish with 18 points.

Jeremiah Burke finished with 23 points and six rebounds for the Pioneers (5-7). Denver also got 17 points from Zane Nelson. Julius Rollins also had 13 points.
