KEARNEY, Neb. — Around 70 people turned out at the Kearney Public Library Thursday as former state senator Lynne Walz continued her four-day listening tour across Nebraska.

Walz who announced last week she is exploring a run for governor, and says she launched the tour to hear directly from residents before deciding whether to enter the race.

Walz told the audience she wants to “bring people together” and said many Nebraskans she’s met so far are frustrated with political division.

She said the most consistent concerns raised include rising health-care costs, affordable housing, education quality, economic development and property taxes.

“This tour is really about listening to what matters to people,” said Walz, adding that she plans to review all of the feedback after the tour wraps up Saturday.

The events continue in Grand Island, South Sioux City, Norfolk, Columbus, Lincoln, and Omaha over the next two days.
