Indiana man charged with motor vehicle homicide in Monday's fatal Kearney County crash

KEARNEY COUNTY, Neb. — An Indiana man was arraigned in Kearney County court Thursday, and is charged with motor vehicle homicide following a fatal Monday crash.
30-year-old Cody Rady from Indianapolis has been charged with three counts, including felony reckless motor-vehicle homicide, reckless driving and violating a stop sign.
Court records reveal that a deputy spoke to Rady at the scene where he told the officer he was on a conference phone call while driving, looked down to mute the call, and was in the intersection when he looked up.
A warrant for his arrest was issued, and was booked into jail on a bond of $20,000. His next court appearance is set for Dec. 18.
45-year-old Saul Barboza Montano, of Minden, was pronounced dead at the scene after Rady ran a stop sign and collided with Montano.
Police say Montano was not wearing a seat belt.
