SIDNEY – Sidney City Clerk Lori Borchert announced her retirement Tuesday night.

Borchert took a moment at the end of the city council meeting to address her coming retirement.

“As I prepare for my retirement on March 2 of next year, I want to express my deepest appreciation for the privilege of serving this community for close to 36 years including the past five years as city clerk. It has been an honor to work alongside dedicated leaders, committed colleagues, and the wonderful residents who make Sidney such a wonderful place,” Borchert said.

She said her career has been one of seeing people work together for the good of the community.

“Throughout my career, I have continually been inspired by the collaboration, care and pride that define our city. I want to thank you all for your support, your trust, and the many opportunities you have given me to contribute to Sidney’s growth and success,” she said.

She said she will take many memories with her when she closes the door in March 2026.

“I am truly grateful for the relationships formed and the memories created over the years. Sidney has been more than my workplace. It has been my community, my support system and a place that has shaped so much of my life, and I mean that with all my heart,” she added.

She said Sidney will always be a place she calls home.
