A pair of volleyball coaches from Southeast Nebraska high schools who helped steer their teams to state championships this year have been recognized by a major national organization for their successes in 2025.

Norris head coach Christine Boesiger has been bestowed the highest honor a high school coach can receive from the American Volleyball Coaches Association: Boesiger was named the 2025 AVCA National High School Coach of the Year.

Under Boesiger's direction, the Norris Titans have claimed the Class B state championship in each of the last two seasons. They were particularly dominant this year, finishing the year 38-1 and atop Class B despite graduating nearly all of their offensive production from the 2024 state championship team.

Norris also won back-to-back state championships in 2013 and 2014 under Boesiger, and the Titans were state runners-up in 2020, 2021 and 2023 before claming the title for themselves the last two seasons. Boesiger has won multiple in-state coach of the year awards, and her teams have won 577 games - and counting - during her decorated coaching career, which also includes 13 conference titles.

In addition to that marquee recognition for the coach of the school based in Firth, not far away in Adams, Freeman head coach Lexi Holland earned some year-end recognition of her own: Holland was named one of the 2025 AVCA Girls High School Region Coaches of the Year.

Holland is one of 37 coaches from ten regions across the country to win this honor this year. Nebraska is in District 7, where other winners include coaches from Minnesota and both North and South Dakota.

Holland's Falcons captured the C2 state championship this year as the No. 4 seed in the tournament - perennially legitimate contenders in this classification, this was Freeman volleyball's first state title since 2014.

Congratulations to these two teams on their championships, and to these two coaches on well deserved, highly regarded national accolades.
