Cedar County, Neb. — Jason and Carrie Jones of Laurel, Nebraska, are scheduled to appear in court following their convictions in the tragic quadruple homicide of Gene and Janet Twiford, their daughter Dana Twiford, and neighbor Michele Ebeling. The victims were all fatally shot in their homes on Aug. 4, 2022, after which their residences were set on fire.

While Carrie Jones is not believed to have been the one who pulled the trigger, prosecutors successfully argued that she aided her husband, Jason, in the murder of Gene Twiford. Carrie is set to receive a sentence of no less than life in prison at a 9 a.m. hearing on Nov. 20.

On the same day, Jason Jones will undergo a mitigation hearing to determine whether he will face the death penalty, a decision that will be made by a panel of three judges.
