KIMBALL -- A new police officer joining the Kimball Police Department was sworn in Tuesday evening at the City Council meeting.

Nate Lousberg transferred to the department from the Kimball County Sheriff’s Office where he worked for two years.

“I am also in the Kimball Volunteer Fire Department, I’ve been on there for five years now,” he said. “I like helping people, and it’s just a job that makes you feel like you have purpose.”

Lousberg moved to Kimball about six years ago, starting out working for the city before deciding to join law enforcement. He is also a member of the VFW, DAV and is on the Kimball County Veteran Service Committee.

“I grew up in a small town, so I like the idea of staying in a small town – before coming to Kimball I spent 10 years on active duty with the Marines, so I moved all over the world – Afghanistan, Japan, Germany, Kyrgyzstan,” he said.
