Socktober drive collects 730 pairs of socks at West Elementary in Sidney

SIDNEY - West Elementary students collected 730 pairs of socks for local schools, churches and charities as part of the school’s annual Socktober service project, Sidney Public Schools announced Monday.
Students Arynn, Charlie, Levi, Aubree, Natalie, Falyn, Miles, Kenalee, Jace and Harper helped collect, count and deliver the donations throughout the month of October. School officials said the group played a key role in organizing the project and assisting with weekly totals.
Donations were distributed to South Elementary, Central Elementary, Table of Grace, Light Memorial Presbyterian Church, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Faith Methodist Church and Evangelical Free Church.
West Elementary also recognized Mr. Schoening and Mrs. Roach for helping conclude the project with an activity for students and staff.
The school thanked families, students and community members for contributing to the effort.
