Peetz edges Otis 31-30 to advance to Colorado six-man semifinals

PEETZ — Peetz scored in the final minute and held on for a 31-30 win over Otis in the Colorado High School State Football Playoff quarterfinals Friday night.
Trailing 30-24 late in the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs put together a final drive capped by a 2-yard touchdown run by Dylan Wagner. Tanner Wood converted the go-ahead PAT to give Peetz a one-point lead with under a minute to play.
Otis led 8-0 early before Peetz answered with a pair of first-quarter scoring plays. Quarterback Rhyder Bayne connected with Patrick Moreno on a touchdown pass, and Conner Schumacher added a two-point conversion to give Peetz a 16-8 lead. Otis tied the game 16-16 before the end of the first quarter.
Peetz opened the second quarter with a long run by Schumacher that set up Wagner’s 3-yard touchdown. Schumacher again added the conversion as Peetz went ahead 24-16. Otis responded with a 45-yard touchdown run by Mitchell Stivers, but the missed extra point left Peetz up 24-22 at halftime.
Otis took its final lead midway through the fourth quarter on a 4-yard touchdown run by Cambric Klinzmann and a two-point conversion by Gavin Price to go ahead 30-24.
Peetz advances to the Class 6-Man semifinals. The Bulldogs will play the winner of Saturday's game between top-seed Idaliaa and No. 8 Sierra Grande.
