SYRACUSE, Neb. — Police in southeast Nebraska are asking for the public’s help in learning more about a shooting on a county road.

The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the incident around 5:00 Thursday evening near the intersection of County Roads 24 and K, which is roughly four miles southwest of Syracuse.

According to a news release, investigators believe an Iowa-plated, dark gray Ford Fusion occupied by two people in black ski masks forced an Otoe County resident off the road and shot at the person’s vehicle. The local resident wasn’t injured.

Authorities say they received another call around 7:00 p.m. about a suspicious vehicle driving on County Road I between County Roads 50 and 54, which is a location a few miles west of Nebraska City. That vehicle’s description matched the description of the earlier incident.

People are encouraged to contact the Otoe County Sheriff’s Office with any information.
