SIDNEY -- The Sidney School District Board of Education Monday recognized the October Students of the Month. 

The Monthly Performance Awards acknowledge other areas as well as achievement. These areas are: 

  1. Superior academic. Performance or dramatic improvement of classroom work, GPA, or attitude toward learning, 
  2. Exceptional work effort toward a particular class project, 
  3. Outstanding contribution to the class, 
  4. Leadership exhibited in the class and/or school, 
  5. Citizenship emphasized and modeled, 
  6. And service to the school. 

Recognized for the month of October are: 

7th grade: Trenton Schneider – Trenton Schneider has a strong desire to accomplish the goals he sets for himself. He works well individually and understands the value of teamwork. Trenton is respectful and considerate when encouraging others to do and be their best. Trenton has a quiet strength that inspires others to believe in themselves. His level of self-responsibility is very high for a middle school student, as he maintains straight A’s in the classroom. Trenton is the son of Douglas and Jennifer Schneider. 

8th grade: Kinleigh Christensen – Kinleigh Christensen has been chosen as Sidney Middle School’s 8th grade Student of the Month for October. Kinleigh consistently displays the qualities that we find desirable of a student representing Sidney Middle School. Kinleigh sets a positive example each day in her academics and behavior choices. Kinleigh  attacks new challenges with confidence and perseverance as part of her strong work ethic. It is her kindness and patience that makes her stand out as a great classmate and student. 

9th grade: Gage Gray – Each day Gage comes to class eager to learn and ready for a challenge. He is engaged in his learning and he does a fantastic job of putting his student-self first. He advocates for his education and is overall an awesome human. Gage is the son of Nicole Macintosh. 

10th grade: Elinor Kokjer: Elinor is an excellent student. She is always kind and willing to help. Anyone. Elinor is a dedicated member of DECA and the girls' golf team. Elinor is the daughter of Carter and Beth Kokjer. 

11th grade: Laurel Dadgostar – Laurel is an incredibly creative person. In extracurricular activities, she expresses her talents in Art Club, One-Acts and Speech Team. She is always lending a kind listening ear to her peers. She shines in the classroom as well as by being reliable,  respectful and engaging in learning. Laurel is the daughter of Nicholas and Stephanie Dadgostar. 

12th grade: Amelia Mazour – Amelia is a dedicated student and is always seeking to improve. She is very involved with the volleyball team, HOSA and NHS. She is an invaluable member to all of the organizations she belongs to. Additionally, Amelia exemplifies compassion, understanding and patience to all students and adults she interacts with. Ameia is the daughter of Mark and Lottie Mazour.
