OSHKOSH - Top-seeded Garden County continued its perfect season Friday, rolling past No. 8 Silver Lake 42-6 in the Class D6 state football quarterfinals in Oshkosh.

The Eagles (10-0) jumped out to a 20-0 first-quarter lead behind junior quarterback Kole Fornander, who scored on touchdown runs of 10 and 31 yards before connecting with senior end Lane Brenneman for a 46-yard scoring pass. Senior running back Wilsie Lobner added a 24-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter and a 2-yard score midway through the second to push Garden County’s lead to 36-6 at halftime.

Senior running back Kyan Kramer capped the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run with 2:30 left in the third quarter.

Silver Lake’s lone score came on a 13-yard touchdown run from junior tight end Brody Knehans with 3:49 remaining in the first half.

Fornander led the Eagles with 69 rushing yards on seven carries and completed 3 of 4 passes for 88 yards. Lobner added 43 yards on the ground and caught three passes for 52 yards. Kramer rushed eight times for 15 yards.

Garden County totaled 236 yards of offense, including 148 on the ground, while forcing three Silver Lake turnovers. The Mustangs managed 196 total yards - 122 passing and 74 rushing - and were held to four first downs.

Silver Lake senior quarterback Beau Bonifas completed 14 of 32 passes for 122 yards, while senior running back Jaxon tenBensel rushed for 65 yards and added 57 receiving yards.

The loss ends Silver Lake’s season at 7-3, marking its third consecutive playoff appearance. Garden County advances to host No. 3 Stuart in the Class D6 semifinals next Friday at 4 p.m. in Oshkosh. The Eagles handed the Broncos their lone loss this season, 28-14, in Stuart on Sept. 19.

Stuart defeated Leyton Friday, 31-25.
