Downtown Sounds artist B.J. Jamison wins national music award at Grand Ole Opry

KEARNEY — Nebraska country artist B.J. Jamison took home national honors Sunday night in Nashville, winning Artist of the Year in the Country Traditional/Classic category at the 11th annual Josie Music Awards at the Grand Ole Opry.
Jamison, 21, grew up on a ranch near Ashby and now lives in Kearney. The Josie Music Awards are among the largest independent music honors in the world, with more than 80,000 submissions across all categories this year. Jamison was one of 14 finalists in his category before ultimately being named the winner.
“I was lucky enough to make the top 14 in my category - and even luckier to bring the hardware back home here to Nebraska," Jamison said in a statement. "I want to thank my fans for all the support these last three years. Without y’all this wouldn’t be possible.”
Jamison has performed across Nebraska, including several appearances throughout the Panhandle, such as a 2024 show at Sidney’s Downtown Sounds summer concert series.
He will celebrate his win with fans on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Kearney Eagles Club #2722. The event begins with cake and photos at 6:30 p.m., followed by a live performance by Jamison and his band from 8 to 11 p.m. CST.
